Notes & Combos
Dracotail and Apophis are the new faces on the block to watch out for. I don't think I ever won against the Man, but he wasn't common enough for me to have to beat him either.
Dracotail, though... Playing against Dracotail is hilarious. Both players need to know what they can and can't handle, chains can very quickly reach around 8 or 9, both decks play grindy rather than negate spamming... it's chaotic. All 3 of the Dracotail traps affect you in some way, but you've got Impulse to really even the odds and shut down their plans incredibly hard, essentially regardless of when.
I do think Dracotail would suit my own playstyle, but I'm actually holding off on completing / playing it immediately (mostly because I don't like playing any deck in a mirror match; feels too "prove yourself" coded).
- Added Reptilianne Echidna and Ragnaraika Selene Snapper to make under Wousu. They actually both came up quite a fair amount and are super funny jumpscares.
- Doubled Dyna Mondo, I:P Masquerena, and S:P Little Knight to use Pot of Extravagance. Extrav helps with the deck's consistency issues and wasted the opponent's Bloss surprisingly often.
- 3x Mitsurugi Ritual -- I used to be against this, but with Dracotail in the picture, you don't really need handtraps to break a board if you have a fist full of gas.
- The Exciton and lone Imperm felt meh; try subbing them out.
Overall I'm very happy with the idea to boot Red Ransom out for Dracotail's arrival: this climb was much more enjoyable than whatever happened the last couple of months! I'm honestly not too excited for Yummy to bring us back to combo fest, but I anticipate I'll have my options.
