Notes & Combos
I’m so happy to finally have reached Master Rank, after around a year of learning Yu‑Gi‑Oh! through Master Duel. I honestly didn’t think my first climb to Master would happen in the middle of Maliss format, but here we are. Centur‑Ion has always been my favorite deck, and I was determined to keep playing it into this meta instead of switching to something like Blue‑Eyes (which I also enjoy, but not nearly as much).
Why This Build
This version uses both the Fiendsmith and Millennium engines, making Centur‑Ion far more resilient against hand traps, which feels even more needed in the current format. I used to play Centur‑Ion with Bystials, but I got tired of having too many of my turns end because of one handtrap. So the Fiendsmith and Millennium package was perfect for mitigating that.
Also, special thanks to kelincilaut and his decklist for inspiring my first time running the Millennium engine in Centur‑Ion.
Gameplan
The main strategy is to bait out hand traps using the Millennium and Fiendsmith engines before committing to my Centur‑Ion combos.
-
If I don’t open a Centur‑Ion starter, I can bridge into the engine through Fiendsmith, using Magistus Chorozo and Lyna the Light Charmer, Lustrous.
-
If I do have a Centur‑Ion starter, I usually go into Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. The combo lines are straightforward, but flexible enough to pivot at the last moment depending on the situation.
Extra Deck Choices
The biggest drawback to this build is the tight Extra Deck. You could easily swap one Cosmic Blazar Dragon for Baronne de Fleur, and there were a few games where I wished I had Baronne. Still, I really wanted to run two Blazars, and I stand by the choice. Outside of that, the other slots feel locked, but I’m not convinced that what I’m running here is necessarily the best.
Replays
I have 1 or 2 replays saved from the climb: 658-774-811
