Notes & Combos
My second time hitting masters ever. I picked up a new deck in Goblin Bikers, which I ended up playing all the way from bronze to masters, it becoming a new favorite deck of mine along the way.
The deck feels very fun to play and is decently strong when going first; being able to “suck” up your opponent’s cards is a form of interaction most decks aren’t prepared for, especially decks like Maliss, Blue-Eyes, Fiendsmith, and Tenpai, as keeping them off bodies ensures they can’t go into the extra deck or recycle their resources.
The build didn’t change too much throughout the climb; the only major changes I made were taking out Chaos Hunter for other more broad handtraps (Imperm/Droll), and I was on Tour Guide for a while but got tired of opening hands with all normal summons and no extenders, so I switched to Ze-amin plus E-tele, which can act as both.
Terrortop is still your best starter by far, but E-tele can get you into Gabonga or another rank 3 without using your NS, which is very good for the deck. Ze-amin, E-tele, and Foxy Tune are also all great to bait hand traps.
As for the 1-off Goblin's spell and trap.
Grand Bash does a lot for the deck, as it allows level fixing so you can make Gabonga or Crazy Beast with any 2 goblins; the ATK boost is actually significant, as it’s pretty easy to swarm the board with goblins by turn 3 or 4 for simple OTKs, and while you don’t want to open the extra normal summon it gives you, it does come up often and helps play through handtraps.
Grand Pileup could be cut, but it did come up a few games to turbo out Crazy Beast, which is really strong into back row decks. While the GY effect can almost be used as a bad “Called By,” stealing a Bystial, March Hare, or Splash Mage target or stopping Maiden of White or a tenpai name from coming back. Although opening it when going second does feel pretty bad.
The extra deck is super tight, and pretty much every card came up, but I’d say the flex spot is definitely Cicada King. I think it only came up in maybe 2 or 3 games. I’d probably replace it with either Downerd or #49 to have an easier time making Zeus when going second.
Being honest, I should 100% be playing the Fiendsmith Engine in this deck over the Xyz armor and Ze-amin/e-tele package, but I’m stubborn, so I wanted to see if I could get into masters with pure bikers. Maybe next season if Ryzeal does come, as this deck will then become a solid anti-meta choice.
