Notes & Combos

Hi to anyone reading this! I'm Mori, previously a Duel Links player who had a keen interest in modern Yu-Gi-Oh, and thus I installed Master Duel! After getting adjusted to the system and meta, I'd say the ride is currently quite fun.

To be honest, I play Ranked simply for the gems, but since I was gaining momentum and ranking up fast, I decided to set my sights on Master Rank with my favorite decks: Resonator, Melodious, and the deck that finished the job, Mathmech Firewall.

If you're a newer player just like me, this deck is quite favorable! The secret packs (mostly Singular Striker Overthrow and Soldiers of the Storm) are very strong and cheap (Sky Strikers are apparently getting good support as well, and Code Talkers are pretty strong as well, shoutouts to Lifepointaker), as Mathmech can be splashed into a variety of Cyberse archetypes, even the most recent: Maliss (though MMM is slightly weaker than regular Malice). Mathmech as a sole archetype are a link-centric strategy with the ability to pivot into XYZ and Synchro summoning, namely Primathmech Alembertia and Laplacian or Geomathmech Final Sigma.

The deck is quite infamous for its ability to establish powerful disruptions such as Firewall Dragon Darkfluid = Neo Tempest Terahertz (potential spell negate, removal, or negate), and Mathmech Superfactorial (into Laplacian with Diameter's omni-negate), as well as supported by handtraps off of ONE card, namely Mathmech Circular or Firewall Defenser.

Other cyberse cards I use personally are Firewall Defenser, Dotscaper, Parallel EXceed, though Gatchiri @ignister and EM:P Meowmine are great too! Our handtrap lineup is relatively simple, but I would try to fit in Ghost Belle or more Nibs for a stronger Maliss matchup (I just don't have enough gems at the moment).

The climb was pretty smooth due to a combination of good luck, opponent misplays, and the Cyberse engine being able to push through handtraps. My worst games were to Blue Eyes and Labrynth, but cards such as Nibiru and the Bystials often led to a very subpar endboard. Link Spider could be an option for the former, though, preferably instead of a Laplacian. My Maliss matchups were 50/50, depending on starting hands and the coin flip, of course.

Overall, the deck's consistency, relatively easy combos, ability to run a variety of non-engine, fast OTK lines, archetypal support, immunity to Artifact Lancea and Droll make it a viable, strong, and cheap deck to climb with! Thank you for reading!
