Notes & Combos

This format is absolute madness. Maliss is everywhere and nearly every deck runs 12-20 handtraps. ----

Some notes

  1. Lancea - I hate this card, but there's no way you can skip it in this Maliss Tier-1 format ...
  2. Ghost Belle - It does a fantastic job against GWC, March Hare, Splash Mage, and decks like Fiendsmith or Blue-Eyes Primite
  3. All Trap Holes traps are great:
  • Floodgate for their NS Maliss monster

    • Be careful though the three Maliss Traps (GWC, TB-11, MTP) and Maliss in the Mirror can dodge it. Only use Floodgate, if there are no cards set in the S/T-Zone. It hinders Link climbing and prevents them from putting Maliss NS monsters into the GY for shenanigans (March Hare, Bystials)
  • Traptrix Nightmare can be used on almost everything! Notable targets:

    • White Binder, Red Rensom, Lizardose, Splash Mage, every SS Maliss main deck monster, (Apollusa), Fiendsmith Requiem, etc.
  • Gravedigger is absolutely cracked in this format

  1. Superpoly might be a outstanding card in this format, but the extra deck is too thight for 3 flexspots. (Muddragen, Garura, Earth Golem Ignister/Desavewurm)

    • 10/15 extra deck slots are crucial for your core plays
    • Cutting Almiraj removes access to Parallel eXceed for a semi decent board if you open a bad hand with Parallel eXceed and one of: Ash, Belle, Maxx "C", Sakitama, or Rikka Princess.
    • Rafflesia is no longer optional like in the last format – Nibiru is everywhere now.
    • Bagooska can be played if you got Maxx C and it works fine on everything that isnt Maliss
    • Time Thief Redoer does a mediocre job. I don’t know why, but this card seems to be a magnet for handtraps. Potentially cuttable, though you’ll need to dedicate a flex spot for removal
    • S:P Little Knight is very flexible, but not so strong in this format – might be cuttable
    • I've tested Super Poly so much in this format, but the biggest issue is the discard cost. Most of the time, you can out something against Maliss, but you’re left without a follow-up...
  2. Future testing:

  • Banishing Trap Hole - banishing all of their SS main deck Maliss monsters or half of their Extra Deck face down without a chance to get them back
  • Evilswarm Exciton Knight might be a sleeper pick in this format
  • Kashtira Unicorn
